Not to be missed

The Fall Mercanteinfiera show is back

Open call for all art collectors, historical design enthusiasts and lovers of beauty: Mercanteinfiera is back at Fiere di Parma, Italy, from 1 to 9 October. Don't miss out the chance to experience an unforgettable treasure hunt.

Have you ever imagined entering Wonderland? If you are passionate about art and collecting, and love beauty, this is your chance to take a trip back in time surrounded by unique objects and curiosities. From October 1 to 9, the Fiere di Parma, Parma's trade show pavillions, will be transformed into Europe's most important antiques and vintage fair.

Visitors, who are advised to equip themselves with a map and comfortable shoes, will be able to meet about 1,000 exhibitors (20 percent of whom are foreigners) distributed in 4 pavilions over an exhibition area of 40,000 sq. m. The wide range of offerings promises to please those who are looking for collectibles, as well as those who want to learn about the trends of the moment, but Mercanteinfiera is also the ideal place to find the perfect object to complete a decor project or to start rethinking from scratch (without, however, buying anything new) a corner of your home.

The array of exhibits, from home accessories to vintage fashion, via sophisticated and rare find, as well as industrial and rustic furnishing, provides a worthy setting for interior designers and gallery owners looking for unique pieces from every era.

There is the historical-design, that production of furniture and home accessories that goes from the Second World War until the 1980s and refers to designers universally recognized as "masters": Gio Ponti, Franco Albini, Iosa Ghini, Joe Colombo and Vico Magistretti just to name a few. And then modern antiques, that series of objects that seem to have been abandoned by the flow of life such as old games from the early 1900s or evocative music box photo albums.

Parading through the four pavilions of the fairgrounds, finally, are antiques from the 1500 to the 1800s, jewelry and watches including vintage (Rolex, Audemars Piguet, Vacheron Constantin, Patek Phlippe, Hublot) and vintage fashion.

Finally not to be missed are the exhibitions set up exclusively for this Fall Mercanteinfiere 2022. Along with a look at the private collection of photographs belonging to Fiere di Parma, the public will be able to admire "From drawing to archive: the originals of the Fontana collection," Pavillion 7, a tribute to the Fontana Sisters great protagonists of Italian Alta Moda.

"Flashes of Genius, Alessandro Volta Precursor of Sustainability", Pavillion 4, on the other hand, reminds us of how Alessandro Volta wbo was a genius and a forerunner in the field of energy, celebrating the battery, his famous invention and a tool that continues to revolutionize the world.

Finally, Swiss watchmaker Eberhard & Co brings to Mercanteinfiera the photographic display "Those daredevils of the white roads. Nuvolari, Varzi, Campari and other heroes at the Cuneo - Colle della Maddalena," Pavillion 4. Here archivial images made by Piedmontese photographer Adriano Scoffone (1891-1980) immortalizing the Cuneo-Colle della Maddalena automobile challenge of the 1925, '26, '27 and 1930 editions, tell us about the car racing adventures of 90 years ago, a spectacle to be relived with pathos and admiration.
