Rustic style in the round

We can almost say that it is as old as man, the rustic style is possibly the most antique of all styles. Yet it holds its charm even in a global world like ours. The arrival of summer makes us think of villas immersed in unspoilt nature, where from a loggia or a window, you can breathe the countryside's aromas, the scents of plants, flowers and fruits. But what rustic suits you better?

Today we will talk about the main declinations of the rustic style. We have divided them into three macro categories (our favorites): Provençal  style, Tuscan style and American chalet style.

Provence, characterized by the scent of lavender fields, has always been a popular destination for those who love to spend the summer in the countryside in the manner of the travelers of the past. A favourite destination also for artists and painters, it is capable of reversing the way we see things. Even a faded wall can become an arrangement of bright colors. Just read Paul Cézanne's words to understand how the Provençal style transforms everything:

"The sunlight here is so intense that it seems to me that the silhouettes of the objects are not only black and white, but also blue, red, brown and violet".

For a country style in the Provençal way, focus on a chabby chic look: antique furniture, classic lines are to be welcomed, as long as they are stripped down and brought back to their natural colours. The embroidered white linen will give a refined and never excessive touch to your rooms and your table. Wicker chairs are a must and should be mixed with wrought iron benches to be matched with petrol fixtures.

If we look at Italy, the rustic style of Tuscany is perhaps the most present in the current country imaginary: a line of cypresses leads us through fields of wheat to a beautiful farmhouse that make us go back in time. Simplicity and tranquillity characterise the rustic Tuscan furnishings and make us think of the unpretentious warmth of the Italian family. So focus on the authenticity of the materials, with warm wooden furniture, stone and marble tops. For your rustic garden, but with Tuscan charm, choose terracotta pots and fruit plants. In the kitchen, display porcelain, decorative dishes and, why not, grandmother's old copper utensils. As for the living room and the other rooms, orient yourself on striped or floral upholstered chairs, antique wooden trunks and benches instead of chairs.

Overseas, the rustic look changes appearance and reminds us more of the mountain scenery of American ranches with the elegant patios overlooking the peaks. In a rustic American style decor, there is no shortage of solid wood furniture, leather, folkloric rocking chairs and, above all, the starry wool blankets to be spread between the sofas in the living room and the beds, full of pillows, in the rooms. More in season and truly iconic for your outdoors are the Adirondack chairs, low wooden armchairs with arched backrests. We recommend that you paint them in the most audacious colors and seat down in serch of the most authentic scents of nature.
