Item description

Elegant and refined French porcelain coffee and tea set, composed of six cups with matching saucers and two square dessert trays. Each cup features a gently scalloped rim decorated on the inside with a delicate green border, which is echoed on the saucers and trays. All pieces are adorned with finely executed floral motifs in pure gold, and the edges are also entirely finished in gilt. The set was made in France between 1880 and 1890, in the Napoleon III style, by master artisans of what is collectively known as Porcelain de Paris. This term refers to the many porcelain workshops and decorative studios active in and around Paris in the 19th century, renowned for their craftsmanship and artistic finesse. Porcelain de Paris pieces are typically unsigned, though they sometimes bear impressed marks or hand-painted numbers identifying the model. On this particular set, the number 1057 is handwritten, indicating the decoration model. In many cases, the makers remain anonymous or are known for having produced only a few rare examples. Porcelain de Paris objects share a refined aesthetic and exceptional decorative detail, making them highly sought after by collectors and featured in major museum collections worldwide.
