Item description

First series of the famous Brionvega Cube RR 126 FO. Produced in 1965 and completely restored, it has the following features: - silkscreen and glossy lacquer - power supply recap and electronic overhaul - turntable overhaul with replacement of consumables - new magnetic head and preamplifier It has been upgraded with the inclusion of the Bluetooth function so as to allow its use via modern electronic devices such as: cell phones, iPads or Tablets. When Bluetooth is active, the lights in the staircase panels turn blue. Having become an icon of 60s pop art, this radiophonograph, present in the most important permanent exhibitions of MODERN ART in the world, was designed by the brothers ACHILLE and PIERGIACOMO CASTIGLIONI on commission from GIUSEPPE and ENNIO BRION (father and son owners of BRIONVEGA). In production from 1964 until about 1972. Of the RR126 there are 4 different versions with minimal internal differences: FIRST differed from subsequent productions for the stabilized transistor power supply, square buttons and knobs turned from solid aluminum; it mounted the English GARRARD AT60 turntable with a solid aluminum platter on which a acrylic glass cover was designed, which remained for all productions of the RR126. 2-way speakers with 20 cm IREL woofer speakers and oval alnico tweeters at the ends, light and sturdy multilayer wood cabinet, this very first production was made only with wood covering. A SECOND version, always with GARRARD AT60 turntable then AT60 MK2 (with arm lift), is produced lacquered WHITE, LOBSTER and WALNUT. 2-way speakers, switch on the first square button on the left, square and round buttons are now in aluminum-coated plastic, fuse and voltage changer. Then RR126 is updated with a smaller DUAL 1010 turntable with rounded edges and 4 black plastic nails appear to position the acrylic glass. The speakers are now a single 20 cm bi-cone speaker (first French AUDAX then Italian IREL). The THIRD version, now has the chipboard cabinet always covered WHITE WALNUT and LOBSTER, appears behind the headphone jack and the turntables are the new DUAL with square edges. In addition to the FM OM radio (medium waves) it also features long waves OL (in the first square button on the left so the switch is moved to the first knob at the bottom left). A hole also appears higher up on the left to be able to mount the PREAMPLIFIER for MAGNETIC turntable heads on request. A FOURTH and final version of the RR126 has been completely revised all the electronics. The main changes were: – Electronics with negative ground – All transistors are now silicon instead of germanium – Internal working voltage is now 60 Volts As a result, the equipment is more powerful and qualitatively better, becoming a true hi-fi equal to today's. It is equipped with a preamplifier for magnetic head as standard and the old electric Piezo Head is no longer provided. The turntable is the Dual 1225, 1226 and other more reliable ones. It is equipped above all with new two-way speakers of the highest quality with 17cm Heco Woofer and Heco Tweeter (both German made), separated by a beautiful cross over. Characteristic of this latest version... the cube closure is not provided, as the speakers use all the internal volume.
