Detail of lectern and desk furniture dating back to the second half of the 19th century.
This type of raised lecterns with an inclined surface were often used in schools or public offices during the 19th century.
They allowed the teacher or official who used them to work standing or sitting on high stools, the inclined shelf allows them to be used as a lectern but also as a desk.
The reading surface lifts like a door and hides a large compartment where writing instruments were stored; in the lower part, a convenient shelf allowed you to store books or registers.
The furniture is supported by 4 turned legs.
The lectern is entirely made of solid larch wood with the exception of the bottom and back which are made of fir wood.
