Componibili Square modular trolley/container designed in 1967 by Anna Castelli Ferrieri for Kartell
This vintage piece consists of two open square modules with a top lid, mounted on four original swivel wheels. The modules can be used separately or stacked on top of each other and are both designed for wheel mounting. The top lid, which is removable, can be used as a tray
The square version of model 4970 is rarer than the round version and is now out of production. The design features a characteristic interlocking system that allows the modules to be stacked and reassembled without the need for screws or fasteners
Made of injection-molded ABS, the Componibili were presented at the MoMA in New York in the 1972 exhibition “Italy: The New Domestic Landscape” and entered the museum's permanent collection. They are also part of the permanent collections of the Centre Pompidou in Paris. In 1973, the Componibili received the prestigious German Bundespreis Gute Form award.
