Late 19th century travel trunk from Spain.
With its rounded shape, it was used for carriage travel.
Wooden structure covered with waterproof canvas with iron reinforcements at the corners.
Inside, the trunk is still lined with its original period paper, and Madrid lottery tickets dated around 1870 have been glued inside the lid.
The lock and handles, one of which is broken, are made of iron and the trunk closes perfectly. The outer canvas has several tears and there is a crack in the wood on the side, which does not affect the structure or overall solidity.
The name Matilde is handwritten on the canvas and travel labels are still glued to it.
