Louis XVI chest of drawers in precious exotic woods, 18th century
Description: Antique Louis XVI Lombard chest of drawers in precious exotic woods belonging to the second half of the 18th century. The piece of furniture has a rectangular shape set on four tapered truncated pyramidal legs typical of the neoclassical taste. The front features an upper drawer with floral inlay and spiral motifs centered by a small reserve in fine wood. The door below is decorated with a large inlaid circular medallion depicting a winged mythological figure in a natural landscape surrounded by geometric frames with plant motifs. The sides and the top are also inlaid with figurative scenes and floral decorations, a sign of high cabinet-making workmanship intended for a piece of furniture that is not only functional but also representative.
