Item description

Sumptuous and imposing wooden frame in Rococo style with double mirror, carved and gilded. The central mirror is surrounded by a carved frame, linear and austere with beaded decoration and pinecone shaped ends. The upper part, exceptionally carved, includes an oval mirror decorated at the top with a soft ribbon from which two cords with tassels at the end, adorned with rich floral decorations. The whole is a veritable blaze of magnificence and abundance in the Rococo style. On the wooden frame, already carved, a mixture of gypsum (calcium carbonate), vegetable sticky resins, honey, linseed oil, and marble dust was deposited (a pastiglia process born in Italy at the end of ' 400), then the Armenian bolo (red pigmented clay powder, mixed with glue) was applied, once dried it was applied with the application of very thin gold leaves (leaf gilding). Handcrafted in France between 1800 and 1830.
