Pair of bookends with two birds that were made by hand in Murano glass between 1950 and 1955. The Murano craftsmen have managed to master the delicate color of the glass in subtle shades with the mastery that distinguishes them, also gave the two animals a delicate and graceful shape, have processed and submitted the glass to their artistic sensibility creating two unique and fantastic objects. Black Marquinia marble was used for the rectangular base, high-quality fine-grained stone material with a deep black color, extracted from the region of Markina, Basque Country in northern Spain, it is one of the most famous and appreciated natural stones in the world. Marquinia is widely used for fine ornamental work. The base has small chipping in the upper part in a corner (see photo).
