pair of polychrome porcelain candlesticks with a perforated round base, the stem consisting of a skillfully fashioned figurine of cherubs, one in green and one in pink, supporting a cornucopia from which three arms adorned with flowers and a central flame branch out.
Dating back to the post-war period, 1920s-30s.
On the bottom there is a sand colored crowned N brand.
Probably German made.
The crowned N mark, as in 99% of cases on porcelain objects from the early 20th century, must not be associated with Capodimonte or the territory of Naples as often mistakenly happens.
After the closure of the royal Bourbon factory of Capodimonte and the events of the unification of Italy, the splendor and mastery of what was the royal factory of Capodimonte were lost forever, in Italy many models of the historic brand were purchased by Richard Ginori in the 1920s with the consequent consent to use the historic brand (which it would only begin to do in the 1940s) although easily distinguishable from the authentic one and accompanied by the wording Richard Ginori.
Beyond the Alps, however, many manufacturers more or less duly appropriated the N coronata brand, starting to produce, at the end of the 19th century, figurines and objects of Bourbon style albeit of good quality, productions to which the candlesticks on sale most likely belong, however, given the very large quantity of manufacturers who applied and still apply this brand to their products, it will never be possible to trace the certain manufacturer of these objects for certain.
However, the candlesticks for sale are of excellent workmanship, in perfect condition, with no breakages other than a very small chip which is not visible on one of the arms of one of the two candlesticks.
