Chinese porcelain "Ginger Jar" vases, made in the Famille Noire style. This style is characterized by an intense black background on which polychrome floral decorations stand out, usually peonies, lotus flowers or plums, which symbolize prosperity and luck. Style and Period: This is a production from the second half of the 20th century (probably between the 1960s and 1980s). The red mark on the bottom "Made in China" with the Chinese characters above is typical of the modern export of that period.
Use: Originally created to preserve spices (such as ginger), over time they have become purely decorative objects much appreciated in Western furnishings.
