Nesso model table lamp, designed by Giancarlo Mattioli with the Città Nuova Urban Architects Group for Artemide, late ’60 years.
First edition example years ’70 in fibreglass, prior to the ABS versions: more material, slightly irregular and with a decidedly more “lively” presence.
Organic and futurist form, composed of a cylindrical base and a mushroom diffuser that distributes light in a soft and enveloping way. A perfect example of Italian Space Age design, where function and sculpture merge.
Also on display at the Museum of Modern Art, it is now considered one of the most iconic lamps of 20th-century design.
