This imposing cabinet with five doors and five drawers is a masterful example of Baroque or Louis XV style furniture, which immediately strikes for its exceptional length and perfect symmetry of proportions. Thanks to its creative restoration, this piece proves to be incredibly versatile, capable of fitting in with absolute naturalness both in a classic and formal context, whose intrinsic elegance it respects, and in a modern and contemporary environment, where it acts as an accent piece with a strong eclectic character.
The lower body is supported by elegant cabriole legs and features shaped doors enriched with sinuous decorative frames and shell carvings, known as rocaille motifs, also recalled along the entire wavy lower apron. The uprights that separate the compartments are finely sculpted with floral details in relief, demonstrating considerable craftsmanship. Immediately above, the five drawers faithfully reflect the curved motif of the doors and have rounded brass knobs, coordinated with the original ring keys that operate the period locks.
The complete restoration introduced a sophisticated play of chromatic and material contrasts which lightens the visual impact, making it easier to match with current furnishing elements. The main structure has been enhanced by an artisanal cream-dove gray lacquering, finished with a dark patina that is deposited in the cracks, highlighting the depth of the pickled style carvings. On the contrary, the splendid walnut wood top has been brought to light: its natural polishing enhances the warm flamed veins and the amber tone of the wood, framed by a shaped perimeter edge. Inside, the solid wood compartments are divided by sturdy intermediate shelves, offering an extraordinary storage capacity that combines the elegance of antiques with modern functionality.
