We present this majestic antique Italian lectern, made of solid walnut and dating back to the early 19th century.
Featuring a pyramid-shaped top section, topped with a decorative turned wooden knob, it is ideal for double-sided use. It offers two inclined shelves to place books, missals or musical scores. The base of the inclined shelves features a shaped bookend to prevent the volumes from sliding. The two open sides create a curious and decorative internal niche. A turned vertical axis connects the upper section to the base. A circular top offers additional support at mid-height. At the base, three curved supports extend outward for stability. A carved decorative ring joins the three legs at their point of maximum convergence. The feet rest on a triangular shaped base, raised from the ground.
A lectern with unparalleled historical charm, which can be placed in different environments: a study, a library, a living room to display an important collectible book, or a public space where it could be used for gatherings, assemblies or meetings. The music stand is in good condition, with signs of wear consistent with its age.
