Item description

Black glass and aventurine vase attributable to and Nason, jug-shaped, in excellent condition, measures 18 x 16 x 24 cm high and weighs 1450 g. The name "aventurine" is said to derive from the term "adventure", which indicates an uncertain and risky operation. In fact, the Venetian glassmakers who first produced aventurine in the 16th century did so by accident, pouring fragments of copper into the glass paste. The result obtained pushed them to develop a specific procedure for the creation and processing of this compound.
