Description Rare set consisting of four Kazuki model chairs, designed by the Japanese architect and designer Kazuhide Takahama for Simon International, a company founded by Dino Gavina and Maria Simoncini. Designed between the end of the 1960s and the beginning of the 1970s, the Kazuki is characterized by an essential geometric structure, composed of orthogonally assembled panels, with a low seat, linear armrests and a very high backrest. The glossy black finish emphasizes the architectural construction and the sculptural character of the whole. The structure is made of wooden and plywood panels, finished with glossy polyester lacquer. The model represents one of the most rigorous examples of Takahama's research on the encounter between Japanese minimalism, the tradition of oriental lacquer and Italian production of the second half of the twentieth century. Specialist sources also indicate that the chair is named after the designer's eldest son. The four chairs have a strong decorative presence and can be used both as functional seating and as collectible items, particularly suited to modernist, minimalist or brutalist interiors. The set is accompanied by photographic documentation and a previous descriptive sheet from Sinopia Galleria, which lists the author, manufacturer, model, period and measurements.
