French Napoleon III sideboard
The piece of furniture is crowned by a very thick Breccia di Versailles marble top, characterized by a finely molded owl's beak edge, featuring warm veins in shades of beige, brown and ocher, which integrate chromatically with the shades of the underlying wood.
Below the marble, the upper band is decorated with a refined continuous geometric inlay in bois de rose in a three-dimensional herringbone pattern delimited by dark threads in contrasting wood.
The Central Body: The facade is moved by two large hinged doors. The main decoration develops on large specular reserves veneered in "four segments" with veins arranged in a herringbone pattern, capable of creating a suggestive effect of optical depth and chromatic dynamism.
Each door is framed by a complex fret inlaid in bois de rose typical of the rigorous neoclassical repertoire of the Napoleon III era
In the centre, the doors are enriched by two elegant vents and a bronze lock with vegetal and phytomorphic motifs, on the external sides of the under-counter band stand out bronze corner applications. The piece of furniture rests on four geometric legs in the shape of an inverted truncated pyramid. The front uprights are embellished with a fine longitudinal thread in ebony which streamlines the structure, ending at the bottom with protective bronze shoes
The piece of furniture displays extraordinary Parisian cabinetmaking quality. The patina of the wood is warm and deep; the veneering preserves the complex geometric symmetry of the inlaid motifs intact.
