Luigi Caccia Dominioni for Azucena - Pair of LP1 "Lampione" model wall lights - Brass, Opaline glass
Splendid and elegant pair of wall lamps (wall lamps) model LP1, universally known as the "Lampione" model,
designed by the famous Milanese architect and designer Luigi Caccia Dominioni in the 1950s for the prestigious Azucena factory, which he co-founded.
These lamps represent one of the greatest expressions of Italian Mid-Century Modern design, capable of combining rigorous geometric cleanliness with the material richness of the Milanese artisan tradition.
The slender brass structure supports a spherical satin opal glass diffuser, diffusing a warm, soft and atmospheric light.
One of the most appreciated features of this project is versatility: the wall lights can be installed both facing upwards and downwards.
The pair is in excellent overall vintage condition, with a magnificent and authentic patina of age on the brass attesting to its era and historical charm.
The internal components show the typical features of the early Azucena manufacturing: the brass casting in the wall rosette is solid, heavy and made with artisanal techniques, far from light modern industrial replicas.
The shell features the characteristic flared ventilation holes for heat venting.
Like much of the Azucena production of that period, intended for commissioned interior projects, the pieces do not bear an imprinted brand (the original paper or adhesive labels have been lost over time), but the authenticity is fully confirmed by the specific weight of the metal, the millimetric proportions and the technical joining details.
The opaline glass is intact, without chipping or fraying.
The electrical system has been checked; the wiring retains the vintage ceramic/metal lamp holders with standard E27 socket, functional and ready for wall installation (compatible with modern LED bulbs).
