Item description

Fascinating and rare pair of folding secretaires from the Napoleon III period (second half of the 19th century, circa 1860-1890), made in full Louis XV style. The two pieces of furniture, perfectly coordinated, have a refined slender structure with a wavy line (à bombe) and are embellished with rich floral inlays in precious essences both on the front flap and on the drawers. The structure is further embellished with elegant applications in gilded and finely chiselled bronze (shoes on the feet, escutcheons for locks and corner uprights) and topped by a precious shaped marble top. Inside the flap, each secretaire hides a coordinated desk compartment with a small open compartment and a series of drawers for correspondence and personal objects.
