A unique Danish table lamp designed by Michael Bang for Holmegaard, representing the Mid-Century Modern style characteristic of Scandinavian design. The base has an organic, almost teardrop-shaped form—a wide, rounded body that flows smoothly into a slender neck. It is crafted from art glass in a deep navy blue color. The surface features a decoration of irregular, undulating patterns that create a subtle relief and give the form a sense of movement. Such organic, asymmetrical forms and hand-crafted decorations are characteristic of Michael Bang’s later designs for Holmegaard. The simple pleated form of the lampshade provides a counterpoint to the sculptural base. The regular vertical pleats emphasize the lamp’s slender silhouette while softly diffusing the light.
