A radical modernist sideboard designed by Venetian architects Roberto Pamio and Renato Toso and manufactured by the Italian company Stilwood in the early 1970s. This is the first edition of this series of structural furniture called Carioca, highly sought-after both for its materials and its construction: the exterior is made of solid ash and ash veneers with a clear, transparent protective finish that highlights the natural wood grain. The right door features industrial wired glass, revealing the internal shelves in a nod to high-tech architecture. The exposed hinges, typical of industrial furniture, are highlighted as key design features on the front and back, rather than hidden. This piece embodies the spirit of experimental Italian design of the 1970s, and more importantly, it also anticipated the idea of fully assembled furniture: each element is pre-formed to accommodate any modification or need. Overall excellent condition, no defects or missing parts.
