Dominique Zumbo (1854/1939) of Calabrian origins and emigrated to France as a boy learned the art of ceramics from the famous Clement Massier, with whom he shared the invention, in 1885, of metallic and iridescent reflections in ceramic decoration. He later opened his own workshop and won the gold medal at the Exposition Universelle in Paris in 1900. This pair of specimens are post 1917, when he moved to Hyeres. In perfect art deco taste. Both signed on the verso of the base D.ZUMBO HYERES VAR. They present small color missing on the edges of the mouthpiece, as per photo.
