SILVER Seller in Perugia, Italy
This beautiful and unusual display cabinet dates from 1900. It is made of solid wood with modular units that are assembled with cast iron joints; the glass doors open vertically and are locked by sliding them under the shelves. The furniture was made in England and sold in the Army and Navy stores, a company founded as a cooperative in 1971 on the initiative of British naval officers. Initially the warehouses sold articles for military families, but later the cooperative opened large stores in England and then in India, in New Deli and Calcutta. The one we propose comes from Calcutta, as the brass label on the back says.
