Sideboard-cabinet with sliding doors, catalogue no. U-452, designed by Jiri Jiroutek. Made of beech wood, veneer, plywood and laminate. In excellent condition, completely refurbished. The furniture comes from the famous Universal series (U-450), which was designed in 1958 for the Czechoslovak national company Interiér Praha by the Czech designer Jiří Jiroutek. The success of the Czech pavilion at Ex-'58 in Brussels was followed by the rise of the Modernist style (called "Brussels style" in Czechoslovakia). One of the most important representatives of the Brussels style are the wardrobes and chests of drawers of the U-450 series with their typical pastel colours and sloping legs. In Czechoslovakia in the 1960s and 1970s, they could be found in almost every modern home. Unique not only in design, but also in technological innovation, which enabled their mass production and availability at a time when there was great demand for furniture in Czechoslovakia. This furniture is original from the 1960s, we have completely renovated it to meet today's standards.
