Pair of very comfortable upholstered armchairs; the structure is very solid with black painted brass legs; the armrests are curved outwards to give more space and comfort to the seat, which is large and comfortable; the backrest is wide, high, and enveloping; the legs, elegantly shaped, are an integral and important part of the whole design; the brass protection at the end of the two front legs is very pretty and particular; the trimmings decorating the sides of the armchairs are very elegant, valuable and refined; the general aspect is curvilinear with soft lines, perfect to transmit a sensation of comfort and wellbeing. The armchairs were created between 1950 and 1954 by master craftsmen from Milan who worked in collaboration with designer Gugliemo Ulrich on his important designs. Guglielmo Ulrich was born in Milan in 1904 to Alberto and Luisa Battaglia. Of the noble family of Danish origin, he attended the Academy of Brera and, after two years, in 1928 he graduated in architecture at the Politecnico di Milano. Architect, designer, interior decorator, and painter, Ulrich was one of the most interesting multifaceted artists of the last century who undoubtedly found his greatest expression in the world of design between the '40s and '70s of the twentieth century. What is striking about Ulrich's work is precisely his ability to combine innovation and the new identity of Italian design. A unique ability to create a link between tradition and innovation. The wooden frame was left in its original condition, while we reupholstered the chairs with an exceptionally soft and sturdy green cotton velvet and chose a sophisticated and very expensive fabric from Designer Guild. Designer Guild, founded in 1970 by Tricia Guild is an international home and lifestyle company with headquarters and showrooms in London's Kings Road and Marylebone High Street and its own stores around the world; it also designs and distributes collections of high-impact luxury furnishing fabrics, wallpapers, upholstery fabrics, bathroom and bedroom accessories worldwide. The upholstery work has been handmade with skill and precision by an old master craftsman from Prato (Italy); we want to remind you that the city of Prato is considered the largest textile center in the world, its craftsmen and companies, highly specialized, are a reference point for creativity, quality, and excellence. The two armchairs have been brought back to life with skill and wisdom to give any environment style and aesthetic personality, they have taken on a personal and unique charm, becoming a discreet and original piece of furniture, capable of creating quiet and peaceful atmospheres, giving romance and sophistication, also the green color Guild matches perfectly with other colors and lends itself to different styles of houses, from traditional to modern.
