Pair of brass wall lights with garland decoration, 1960s
Pretty and refined pair of wall lamps with a typical balloon shape; the structure, made of gilded brass, is enriched by refined decorations in the shape of soft garlands; in the upper part three leaves are arranged, embellished with prismatic drop-shaped crystals; the whole frame of each wall lamp is adorned with chains of lead crystals, cut, ground and faceted, manually joined by decorated metal wires; at the top all the crystals have a flattened octagonal shape, while at the bottom there are also rectangular prismatic crystals and below these, there is a group of prismatic drops equal to those at the top, all forming a cascade of shining beauty. At the back there is a brass plate in the shape of a cross which conceals the electrical wires and allows the wall lights to be placed on the wall. The structure of the two wall lights is the classic and iconic balloon structure, known in French as the "sac-à-perle" because it resembles the shape of a basket, which originated during the reign of Louis XIV but had its heyday during the period of Louis XVI; the wall lights were created between 1960 and 1965 by a workshop on the outskirts of Paris, where the craftsman managed to create two unique, precious and elegant products. The sconces have a single light point, but when they are turned on, the ground crystals refract the light with infinite facets, and enchanting reflections are created that enhance the decorative effect, but they can also give an exciting glow thanks to the natural light reflected by the crystals; their extreme classicism and their romantic line, make them extremely versatile and easy to place in any environment. The pair is in good condition. The electrical system is working but the wiring is European, the compatibility of the voltage in other countries should always be verified by an electrician before use.
