Collector's armchair model "1106/1 " FINLANDESE by Olli Mannermaa, from a production batch of 1959, made by the company - Figli di A. Cassina Meda Milan. Great quality, handcrafted. Vertical aluminium frame. 4 legs and protective feet. Multi-layered wooden shell, padded and upholstered in black Sky leather. 63 years old and in excellent condition. Perfect shell and leather. No holes, tears or missing parts. Some discolouration only on the black paint part of the leg frame. Has only the black plastic butterfly, which is missing a part, which serves and adjusts the height. Otherwise perfect. For display. Request info and photos. Cassina Meda Milan. High-quality craftsmanship with a simple, enveloping design in modernist style. A model of seat made by hand with visible stitching, by the skilled craftsmen of Medina-Brianza. Metal structure, vertical base in die-cast aluminium with 4 haloed legs equipped with circular protective feet in black hard rubber. Shell in plywood with upholstered seat covered in black Sky leather. The armchair is 63 years old and in excellent condition. Perfect shell and leather. No holes, tears or missing parts. Height adjustable via a butterfly knob with black hard plastic head. Slight period patina on the metal part, some discolouration on the black paint part of the 4 legs. Otherwise perfect. Could be in a museum or private collection. For exhibition. The model of the FINLANDESE was made and sold in the beautiful country through concession rights to the Italian Cassina in the workshops of Meda in Brianza Italy. In Finland it was produced by MARTELA plc OLLI MANNERMAA, snurrstolar, Martela Oy, Helsingfo. One of the most important furniture companies in Scandinavia. In 2010, Martela was Finland's largest furniture manufacturer. In 1955 a Guild chair designed by Olli Mannermaa was introduced, paving the way for the design language of modern office furniture. The chair's sculptural form attracted the attention of a wide audience because of its high comfort and appropriate posture. A comfortable artefact where it was good to sit.
