Pair of table lamps made of opaline Murano glass. Each of them is made up of a single piece of blown glass with gray streaks that spiral along the body of the object at regular and alternating intervals. The classic mushroom shape features soft, rounded lines. A lamp holder is attached to the bottom internally and the upper opening allows you to change the bulb inside with absolute comfort. The ancient "half filigree" technique was used to make the lamps: invented in Murano between the second and third decades of the 16th century, it is the simplest of the "filigree" processes; to carry out this process, glass rods of equal size containing a single central filament of milky or colored glass are placed on a metal plate and heated to the melting temperature; this causes the rods to fuse together, creating a single solid slab onto which an opal "ball" is rolled, which is subsequently blown by the master, giving it a cylindrical shape, until all the rods are completely joined together, at which point it begins to be modeled by the master glassmaker in the desired shape. Due to their recognizable and unique shape and the particular construction process, we can attribute them with certainty to the famous Venini company, which created them between 1970 and 1975 in its Murano furnace. The Venini company was born way back in 1921, from the minds of Paolo Venini, a lawyer, Giacomo Cappellin, a Venetian antique dealer, and Andrea Rioda, a glassmaker. The name of the first company was Vetri Soffiati Muranesi Cappellin-Venini & C. Since its foundation there have been numerous designers and artists who have collaborated, both of national and international fame. Venini is a constantly evolving laboratory; the most evident change is in the artistic inspiration: in 1927 the artistic director changes and Zecchin is succeeded by Napoleone Martinuzzi, (1892-1977) one of the most influential personalities in the world of artistic glass. The Venini company has collaborated over time with the most important designers of every era, creating distinctive and authentic objects. The authenticity that lives in the perfect balance between craftsman and Murano "savoir-faire", the pursuit of excellence, bold design, originality and the ability to make shared memories contemporary and fascinating. Today as 100 years ago, the transformation of ideas and intuitions of international artists and designers make Venini an avant-garde laboratory. Venini products, like all products made in Murano glass, are unique because each process is manual and therefore difficult to replicate in series; his exclusive creations with refined details and complex workmanship are rightfully placed in the world of luxury objects, every aspect of them is cared for and finished down to the smallest detail. The electrical system is new but the wiring is European; voltage compatibility in other countries should always be checked by an electrician before use.
