Item description

Armchair in the style of Marco Zanuso. Very comfortable and elegant, the structure is solid with sturdy legs in polished and brushed brass. The seat is deliberately low but wide and comfortable. In general, it has soft and pleasant lines, perfect for conveying a feeling of comfort and well-being. The armchair was created between 1960 and 1963 by an artisan workshop in Meda (Milan) which collaborated with various Lombard architects. For the realization the craftsmen were inspired by the architect Marco Zanuso. Zanuso (1916-2001) was among the greatest interpreters of modern culture, as an architect, designer and university professor; he was one of the first designers to take an interest in the problems of product industrialization, going beyond the aesthetic question to incorporate technological, industrial, distributive and communicative variables. The shape of an object intended for serial reproduction, according to Zanuso, is therefore a synthesis between opportunities, experiments and innovations that are placed in the concrete process that links creativity, production and the socio-cultural context. Among his countless creations we mention the Lady armchair, the Antropus armchair and his collaborations with companies such as Brionvega, Necchi, Borletti, Kartell. The armchair has recently been entrusted to an old master craftsman from Prato who has redone the upholstery in elegant and refined red velvet. We recall that the city of Prato is considered the largest textile center in the world; its artisans and highly specialized companies are a point of reference for creativity, quality and excellence. Seat height: 31 cm.
