Item description

French Louis XV style sideboard. Skilled cabinet makers have used different colors of walnut wood to make this piece of furniture. On the front of the two drawers a walnut veneer with a geometric design has been inserted; the same process was repeated for the door of the large compartment below, for the sides and for the uprights. Aesthetically refined and elegant execution that is completed with four small and robust "cabriole" legs, elegant gilt bronze handles that decorate the drawers and refined decoration for the lock. To complete it, a shaped Giallo Siena marble slab was placed on the top. Giallo Siena marble is a natural stone, typical of the Sienese mountains; appreciated since ancient times for important coatings, for the creation of decorative objects and jewels. The Sienese hills are made up of metamorphic sedimentary rocks formed over the millennia following movements of the earth's crust; this location gives Giallo Siena marble its main peculiarity: each slab can undoubtedly be considered a unique piece. The piece of furniture was made in the Louis XV style by expert craftsmen between 1870 and 1880 in a workshop in Chambery (France), a small town in the woods of the Savoie department, right at the foot of the Alps. The object has been treated with ancient manual restoration techniques by our team of craftsmen and is in excellent condition.
