Title:
Monumental 'Spaceship' Glass Ceiling Flush Mount 2027 by Max Ingrand for FontanaArte, Italy, c. 1950s
Description:
An absolute masterpiece of Mid-Century Modern Italian lighting design. This monumental, 83 cm long ceiling flush mount—often referred to by collectors as the "Spaceship" —was designed by Max Ingrand for the prestigious laboratories of FontanaArte, Milano, during the 1950s.
This rare fixture showcases a massive, thick curved frosted glass body with exquisite diagonal wheel-engraved (molatura alla ruota) textures along the sides. The engineering is a testament to FontanaArte’s supreme craftsmanship: the heavy glass shade is perfectly balanced in mid-air, secured to the central painted iron and brass chassis by only two opposite, solid brass knurled conical screws.
Inside, the light architecture features its original ceramic socket cluster, designed to flood large spaces with a warm, sophisticated, and dramatic glare-free light.
An uncompromising museum-grade statement piece for high-end residential projects, historical salons, or modernist architectural spaces.
