Item description

Rare rocking armchair of Italian manufacture from the Rationalist period of the 1920s. The armchair is placed in the European Bauhaus period. The armchair is well constructed with solid wood surrounding its surface. While the seat and back are a whole made of rope fabric. The armrests and legs are made of a single curved wooden shell. A great and very rare piece of Italian history, but at the same time a classic that never fades. Italian rationalism is based on precise rules according to the proportions of the golden section, and at the same time modern shapes and structures blend with the volumetric layout and balance of classical architectural space. A common element is the reduction of form to an essentiality that corresponds to maximum functionality. Industrial objects, characterised by standardisation and reproducibility. Polemical content against classical monumentalism. Use of materials in relation to industrial production and social and political engagement.
