Item description

Pair of Jingdezhen ceramic table lamps (without lampshade). They were obtained from two large vases on which the electrical part was mounted by covering the mouth with a brass plate on which the stem and, on top of this, the lamp holder were fixed; one advantage is that the height of the brass stem can be changed at will. The two vases were made in excellent Chinese ceramic: they have a very refined and elegant shape, the intense red color fades from the base upwards and makes the two objects slender and beautiful, with an innovative and harmonious overall effect, fruit of a careful and intelligent aesthetic reflection. The lamps are in good condition. The electrical system is functioning but the wiring is European, the compatibility of voltages in other countries must always be checked by an electrician before use. In these lamps, the focus is on quality, elegance and fine workmanship. Here the designer's creativity and craftsmanship come together in an exclusive product, a unique and elegant modern piece of furniture. The brand, impressed on the bottom in ancient Chinese characters, tells us with absolute precision that the vases were produced between 1950 and 1970 in the furnaces of Jingdezhen, in China. In China, the name Jingdezhen is practically synonymous with ceramics. This city is said to have produced fine objects for official use as early as the 6th century AD and is known to have continued to produce excellent products throughout various dynasties (Tang, Song, Nan). Under the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644), Jingdezhen began producing high-quality ware on a large scale for the use of the imperial family and the general government. Throughout the Ming period, Jingdezhen was more of a government procurement center than an imperial factory. The pottery industry flourished during this period, producing goods of superlative quality. The Ming and Qing dynasties brought the porcelain industry to an outstanding level and Jingdezhen established its leading position in the world of Chinese ceramics and porcelain. With the establishment of the People's Republic of China (1949), the Jingdezhen factory was rebuilt with the aim of creating the Quin Guan ware by adopting the operating system of the Republic with the development of the systematization of the nation. The ceramic industry reorganized itself in those years in the form of cooperative associations and resumed production on a larger scale than ever before; in addition to domestic porcelain, the city has also been producing a wide range of other excellent traditional ceramic products and other modern designs since 1950. The location of the former imperial kiln has become a site of ceramic kilns which have many advantages and innovations and reflect advanced techniques; the many products embody the aesthetic taste of traditional Chinese culture and represent the most complete industrial system of porcelain and ceramic crafts in China. (For all our shipments we use special packaging materials such as wooden cases, polystyrene, etc. for maximum protection and safety of the items)
