Pair of Distex armchairs designed in the 1950s by Gio Ponti for the refined Italian manufacture Altamira. The armchairs are wonderfully rare and have been recently reupholstered in an elegant yellow velvet. The armchairs have a walnut wood structure, supported by four cylindrical feet with a diagonal pin that support the body of the seat. The armchair has a backrest that is very inclined backwards compared to the norm, designed to offer the guest absolute comfort and a unique rest. Its design is very geometric, typical of the MID CENTURY years. The seat is very deep and is framed by two trapezoidal armrests with softly padded edges. The feet are perfectly conical in wood, in line with the design. Each armrest reaches halfway up the backrest. As already mentioned, the backrest is set far back and has a rectangular shape with slightly protruding ears. This pair of armchairs is not only an excellent piece of furniture, but can also be used as a design element to enrich a sophisticated and classy environment.
