Chinese porcelain vase with woman in garden, early 20th century

Antique Chinese porcelain vase from the Rose family period. The surface depicts a scene of daily life with four elegant women as protagonists who spend their time in the garden. The Famiglia Rosa is a type of porcelain whose production dates back to 1730. It is a porcelain of unquestionable quality both in terms of workmanship and decoration. Its color is characterized by different shades of pink combined with white. It is also known as fencai or ruan cai ("soft colours") and later also by the name of yancai (foreign colours) to indicate the origin of its colour. Pink families were typically produced for export and had a more floral style in homage to the Rococo fashion that had just blossomed in Europe.
