Hand-painted ceramic sculpture by Batignani depicting a doctor with a newborn, 1960s. It has a small flaw in the doctor's glasses. Batignani is a ceramic manufactory founded by Gastone Batignani in 1907 and active in Bagni di Ripoli, in the province of Florence. On the founder's death, his son Renzo succeeded, who in turn left the business to Alberto in 1966 who since then, assisted by craftsmen who turn and decorate, has created a production in patinated terracotta inspired by the tradition of Florentine terracotta flanked by a creation of ceramics of furniture and art. Production continues to this day under the direction of Leonardo Batignani.
