Brown leather Zyklus armchair by Peter Maly for COR, 1980
Wonderful original Zyklus armchair from 1980 by German industrial designer Peter Maly, born in 1936 for Cor Sitzmöbel. Made of soft leather with double colouring. Well padded seat, back and headrest. The armrests are made of plastic wire wrapped in a hollow tubular chrome-plated steel frame. The height of the headrest is adjustable, from 72 to 90 cm. The seat depth is 43 cm. The armchair is easy to move thanks to the wheels on the back. The name Zyklus is in honour of the quarter of the geometric figure of the circle. The headrest and adjustable wheels are complete circles, the seat and backrest are semicircles and the armrest is a quarter of a circle. It is 44 years old and in good condition. Signs of use, normal rippling of the leather, but perfectly usable. The leather upholstery and stitching are in good condition. The metal frame and chrome fittings are OK. Small marks on the leather surfaces due to normal use. It is used but in good condition. The texture of the backrests is intact, as is the leather of the seat. The headboard would need renovation. There is no rust, everything is in full working order. The seat leather is OK, not the nicest, but can be cleaned quickly. Absolutely no cracks. The headrest leather needs to be replaced. A 20th century design icon. A COR Sitzmöbel company, it was founded in the autumn of 1954 in Rheda-Wiedenbrück, Germany, as an upholstered furniture factory by Leo Lübke on behalf of his son Helmut Lübke and His Highness the Prince of Bentheim Tecklenburg.
