Large Italian sculpture from the second half of the 18th century. Finished wooden work from the centre depicting an almost life-size Roman soldier. Statue complete with lacquered and gilded wooden base that raises it 13 cm. Sculpture lacking iconographic references but, in all probability, referable to the figure of a saint who was part of the Roman army (such as St. Longinus, St. Maurice or St. Martin of Tour to name but a few). A fabulous object for antique dealers, interior decorators and collectors of antique wooden sculptures. Work that underwent conservative restoration and colour restoration during the 20th century. Overall in good condition.
