La Peppina Termomatica lever coffee machine by Fe-Ar, 1960s
Machine model 'La Peppina Termomatica' manufactured by Fe-Ar of Milan. The manufacturer's initials derive from the initials of the owner and designer Felice Arosio, known for having invented the 'Faemina' model. The Termomatica version is equipped with a thermostat and is the latest series produced by Fe-Ar. The original Italian patent dates back to 23 December 1957. Later, it was also patented in other countries, such as Austria and the United Kingdom. The Peppina is an open boiler machine with a spring-loaded piston, simple and light. By means of an accessory hermetic lid, it is possible to transform the Peppina into a closed boiler machine, so that the steam wand can be used to prepare cappuccinos, punch, tea etc. The lever for compressing the piston spring, unlike other machines of the time, instead of being placed on the body of the machine, is placed on the base of the machine. The enamelled sheet metal boiler was produced in different colours. Although in working order, it is advisable to check the gaskets, as can be seen from the photos, some new gaskets are already given with the machine.
