Item description
Blue submerged Murano glass bowl by Mario Pinzoni for Seguso, 1960s. Designed by Pinzoni during his period as creative director of the famous "Seguso Vetri d'Arte" furnace in Murano. Born in Venice in 1927, Pinzoni graduated as an architect but later devoted himself to glassmaking, being tutored in the art of design and production of Murano glass by the legendary Flavio Poli. After working with his master at Seguso, he himself became the artistic director of the furnace, following in Poli's footsteps and creating wonderful pieces with the "submerged" glass technique, in which the colored glass is wrapped - apparently submerged - by a transparent layer. This bowl is large in size, perfect for use as a centerpiece, and is thick and heavy; it gives the impression of supreme quality. It is extremely well preserved with minimal visible signs of age. A true collector's item.
