The work is made with the oil of canvas technique and depicts the martyrdom of San Sebastiano.
At the bottom in the foreground the scene of the martyrdom: on the right the group of the archers constitutes the dramatic nucleus of the scene, with an intense contrast between their disturbed faces, their silhouettes partially in the shade, the muscles tense in the effort on the one hand and on the other, the radiant beauty of the saint, whose body, defined as a decisive plasticism and a massive volume, is offered to the martyr. in a parallel position to the hostile arches.
In the upper part, an angel reaches the rescue of the saint having in his hands the laurel-symbol crown of victory through the martyrdom-and the palm symbol of martyrdom and rebirth.
