Oil on canvas with female figure signed by Romano Valori 1913, with original coeval frame, museum work, measures 136cm x 100cm,
Romano Valori was born in Milan on June 28, 1886 and young man enrolled in the Accademia di Brera where he had the famous Cesare Tallone as a teacher, who introduced him to art in particular that portraitist but not also disdaining the landscape one.
Here he had contacts with the group of Divisionists, specifically can be assumed with the first Angelo Barabino and also with the Ligurian Academy Ligurian (Rubaldo Merello, Nomellini) from which relating to the painting of the landscapes made with points or spots of pure, vivid and dense colors are observed which, through an optical deception, merge to form an image according to the canons of divisionism.
At 21 he won the essay for the pensioner Francesco Hayez with his self -portrait (1907) [2], who entered the Academy collection. He later sent from Florence, at the end of the pensioner, two paintings of which the last one was accepted by the Commission.
Autumn (1913) Coll. Private exposed to Milan Permanent in 1915
Subsequently, values began to present his works on the occasion of the Brera exhibitions and the exhibition of the permanent (autumn, shows the permanent of 1915) [1], obtaining several commissions from private individuals, including the Parisian collector and entrepreneur in Italy Fernand du Chène de vère who became patron of the young painter.
Having gathered consensus by art and critics enthusiasts, only twenty -six years old, in 1912 he became honorary partner of the Brera Academy. As a portraitist he painted in the ways of scapigliatura but also made it in a divisionist style. Many of his portraits are exhibited at the square of the Maggiore Hospital in Milan and other works at the Modern Art Galleries in Milan and Novara as well as at the Brera Academy in Milan.
At the outbreak of the First World War he had to leave for the battlefields where he died of the wounds in Povolaro in a field hospital in 1918. [1]
