The cantilevered chairs with a metal tube structure were one of the most proud companies of the Bauhaus, as they embodied their spirit of innovation, structural gymnastics and efficient use of materials. The designer of this chair, undoubtedly inspired by the great minds of the Bauhaus, gave up this last aspect when he thought it. While all the frames of the previous cantilever chairs are looking for the shortest route from the floor to the seat and back, this in particular runs in the middle of the seat, goes towards the front, turns again and only then reaches the seat. This unusual path, together with the greater diameter of the tube and the softer cushions, is due to half a century of changes in the design and production philosophy. If we were to ask the designer for an explanation, he would probably shrug and say: "I wanted to do it and nobody told me not to do it".
