Art Deco vase model 'Romeo' from Luxval -Val Saint Lambert Period: ca. 1935. This impressive trophy-shaped vase is typically art deco. The main body is made of thick transparent glass, is slightly faceted, and has wavy embossed patterns at the bottom. Both handles are adorned with circular relief details and a greek meander at the top; the handles and the foot are in black. The vase is from the luxval series of val saint lambert and is known as the romeo model (it is presented in the luxval 1935 catalogue). The model comes in several colors and this one with the black handles seems to be very rare. The luxval series was created by val saint lambert (a renowned belgian crystal factory) after the economic crash of the 1930s in order to offer a range of products more economical than their traditional cut crystal pieces.
