Item description

"Coronado" three-seat sofa designed in the 1960s by Afra and Tobia Scarpa for C&B (now B&B Italia), is an excellent example of mid-century Italian design. The sofa is covered in real leather, cognac in color, which gives a warm and luxurious look. The leather is in excellent original condition, showing only minor signs of use. The seats are extremely comfortable, thanks to the Polysoft padding, a cold polyurethane foam, while the cushions are filled with Dacron fibre, which ensures softness and resistance over time. The internal structure is made with special iron and steel profiles, which give sturdiness and durability, typical of quality furniture. The legs, short and made of black painted wood, add an elegant contrast with the color of the leather, maintaining a sober and minimalist style. The original labels preserved on the seats provide precious details regarding the model and materials, confirming the historical and artisanal importance of these creations. An iconic piece of modern design that combines aesthetics and functionality. Dimensions: H 75 cm.; Length: 220cm. Depth: 90 cm. Seat height 44 cm. TOBIA SCARPA (Venice, 1 January 1935) is an Italian architect, designer and restorer. He worked for a good part of his career alongside his wife Afra Bianchin (Montebelluna, 28 March 1937 – Trevignano, 30 July 2011). Their works can be found in many museums in the United States and Europe, including MoMa and the Louvre[1]. He has collaborated with companies such as "C&B" today "B&B Italia", San Lorenzo Silver and Knoll International[2]. He was also awarded numerous honors and awards such as the Compasso d'Oro in 1969 and the International Forum Design in 1992. The couple's design work consists of architecture and everyday objects including furniture, clothing, interior design and glass work. In their designs they focused on the technical and aesthetic possibilities of the materials used. Tobia was greatly influenced by his father, the architect and designer Carlo Scarpa.
