Rare pendant lamp produced by Seguso Vetri d'Arte in the 1940s. Chrome-plated metal structure, pulegoso glass diffuser and transparent glass elements. Seguso is one of the oldest families on the island of Murano dedicated to the art of Venetian glass, known for the production of objects such as vases, cups, chandeliers and custom-made designs. Seguso works have been created for European royal families, the Vatican, hotels, and theaters. Seguso glassware is featured in the permanent collections of glass and contemporary art museums, including the Moma in New York, the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, the Corning Glass Museum, and the Murano Glass Museum. The oldest official document of the family is kept in the State Archives of Venice and is dated May 3, 1397: in it, “Filius Segusi” is mentioned in relation to Murano glassmaking.
