Item description

Ancient and rare Chinese ginger jars with lid. They are hand painted in cobalt blue under glass. Their asymmetrical execution, the simple and rustic designs, the small black spots present everywhere, the not brilliant enamel, the not perfect firing and the too rapid cooling that created imperfections under the bottom, the lack of a small piece of enamel on a lid (see photo), the formation of rust (see photo) in the cracks on the bottom due to the iron present in the clay (for this effect it takes centuries for it to occur), the old patina inside formed by ginger fumes (see photo), lead us to date them with excellent approximation between 1715 and 1720, in the first years of the emperor Qianlong who ruled China from September 25, 1711, to February 7, 1799. Another important security attestation is the wax seals on the bottom of both jars, which were affixed by Chinese customs as a guarantee for export only on antique and authentic objects.
