Pair of Sommerso Murano glass jars / candle holders from the 1950s, Design Falvio Poli.
Elegant Murano glass artefacts characterized by layers of green and yellow glass that create a compelling sensation of depth and light.
Set produced in the 1950s in the historic Murano furnaces, which embodies the refined craftsmanship and clean lines of the time, perfected with the Murano "Sommerso" technique, a layered technique in which one or more colored glass cores are "submerged" under a thick layer of transparent crystal. In the furnace, the colored core is repeatedly dipped into molten clear glass, creating layers that produce optical depth, internal luminosity and a suspended light effect. It requires precise timing and thermal control and is a hallmark of post-war Murano glassmaking.
In excellent condition: original shine with minimal signs of age which enhance its provenance.
Ideal as a sculptural object on tables or shelves, or as a decorative element in modern interiors.
