Italian Art Deco convertible armchair in brown faux leather, 1920s.
Italian Art Deco convertible armchair in brown faux leather, 1920s.
An elegant and functional Italian Art Deco convertible armchair dating back to the 1920s. This piece perfectly combines the geometric rigor and sophisticated charm of the Art Deco movement with the space-saving ingenuity typical of the early 20th century.
The armchair features striking curved armrests in finished solid wood, showcasing the natural grain and an architectural profile with open slats. Designed with functionality in mind, the seat lifts and extends forward to reveal an original folding metal bed frame, transforming the armchair into a practical single bed.
Please note that the mechanism includes the metal bed frame only (mattress not included). Thanks to its compact size and versatile dual-purpose design, this armchair is a striking piece of furniture, ideal for living rooms, studies, or guest rooms, both in classic and midcentury-inspired settings.
Excellent condition. The frame is solid and the metal mesh folding mechanism is fully functional. The armchair was recently professionally reupholstered in high-quality brown faux leather. The solid wood armrests have been cleaned and restored, showing only minor signs of wear consistent with the piece's age and history. Mattress not included.
